Bayley Scale of Infant and Toddler Development (BSITD-III). Chronological Or Corrected Age: Which Is More Appropriate to Assess Preterm Infants’ Cognitive, Linguistic, and Motor Performances?

چکیده
The use of chronological or/and corrected age administering BSITD-III in preterm children was investigated in a sample of preterm infants and full-term infants. BSITD-III was administered at 12 months corrected age. The performance scores for the three BSITD-III subscales were calculated according to the child’ chronological age and considering the BSITD-III request for correction referring to the 40 week or the 37 week of gestation. Results indicate that corrected age should be used with the cognitive subscale only, not with the Motor nor with the Language ones.

Study of Neurodevelopmental Outcomes at 10-14 Months of Age Using Bayley Scale of Infant and Toddler Development in Asphyxiated Newborns with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy Treated with and without Therapeutic Hypothermia
Background: Therapeutic hypothermia has become an established protocol for all neonates with moderate to severe Hypoxic Ischaemic Encephalopathy (HIE). There are very few studies comparing the neurodevelopmental outcomes in asphyxiated neonates who received therapeutic hypothermia or did not. This study aimed to assess the neurodevelopmental outcomes of asphyxiated neonates with features of HIE...

BACKGROUND Early developmental interventions to prevent the high rate of neurodevelopmental problems in very preterm children, including cognitive, motor and behavioral impairments, are urgently needed. These interventions should be multi-faceted and include modules for caregivers given their high rates of mental health problems. METHODS/DESIGN We have designed a randomized controlled trial t...
متن کاملSurvival and Neurodevelopmental Outcomes of Preterms Resuscitated With Different Oxygen Fractions.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Stabilization of preterm infants after birth frequently requires oxygen supplementation. At present the optimal initial oxygen inspiratory fraction (Fio2) for preterm stabilization after birth is still under debate. We aimed to compare neurodevelopmental outcomes of extremely preterm infants at 24 months corrected age randomly assigned to be stabilized after birth with...
